Council

Council vs asking ChatGPT alone

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are all excellent. The question is not which one is smart. It is whether one answer is enough for the decision in front of you.

What you get from one model

Ask a single assistant and you get one well written answer. It is fast, it is usually reasonable, and for most everyday questions it is all you need.

The catch is that you cannot see how confident you should be. A model gives a weak guess and a solid fact in the same calm voice. If its training, its assumptions or its reading of your question is off, nothing on the screen tells you.

You can ask again, but the same model tends to land in the same place. Rephrasing mostly changes the wording, not the reasoning.

What you get from a council

Council sends your question to several models from different labs, by default GPT-5.6 Terra, Claude Sonnet 5.5, and Gemini 3.8 Flash. Each one answers independently, without seeing the others.

A synthesizer then compares the answers. It scores how much they agree, lists the points where they split and gives you one verdict with a clear pick. The full answer from each model stays on the page.

Agreement across labs is a signal you cannot get from one model. Disagreement is an even better one: it shows you exactly where the decision is close and what the answer depends on.

Why different labs, not one model asked three times

Models from the same company share training data, methods and habits, so they often make the same mistake together. Models from different labs were built by different teams making different choices, so their errors are less likely to line up.

That is why the default council seats one model per lab, and why you can swap any seat for another model on the bench. The point is not to crown the single best model. It is to hear several genuinely different ones before you decide.

When a question depends on current facts, Council also searches the web first, so every model reads the same dated briefing instead of guessing from memory.

When a single model is enough

Use ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini on its own for quick facts, writing help, code you can test, brainstorming and anything you can easily check or undo. A council would add time without changing much.

When disagreement matters

Reach for a council when the decision is expensive, hard to reverse or depends on judgment: a job offer, a move, a contract, a health question, a big purchase, a strategy call.

In those cases the most useful thing is often not the answer but the split. If three models from three labs agree, you can act with more confidence. If they disagree, you know which question to ask next before you commit.

A worked example

Here is a real question someone put to the council:

Should I take the startup offer over the corporate one?The verdict: Default to the corporate offer, but verify startup fundamentals before finalizing

The page shows each model's own answer, where they agreed, where they did not and why the verdict leans the way it does. That is the part a single chat cannot show you.

Price

ChatGPT Plus costs $20 a month for one assistant. Council Pro costs $9.99 a month and puts models from several labs on every question, with unlimited questions.

You do not have to choose. Many people keep their favourite assistant for daily work and bring the decisions that matter to the council. Council is free to try: 2 questions with no account, then 3 a day.
